What the Hell Is… Replaced?

Have you seen Replaced and wondered what the hell is this? Basically you’re an AI trapped in a human body, but it’s set in this pixel art cyberpunk dystopia that just makes my eyeballs happy.

It’s a side scroller of sorts with platforming, fighting, and exploring, but everything is stripped down into its simplest form. There are hints of Arkham Asylum and even the old LucasArts point and click games, but none of those references go beyond scratching the surface.

But visually? It’s like watching Blade Runner on a Super Nintendo and I can put up with a LOT of clunky gameplay for a chance to walk and jump and punch around in these spaces that are just oozing with style.

And here’s the wild part, this game was announced in 2021, but then Russia invaded Ukraine, the studio relocated, and everything got pushed. So yeah. This is literally a game that survived a war to get made.

Replaced is on PC and Xbox — and it’s day one on Game Pass, so if you’ve got that, you’ve got zero excuses.

That’s what the hell Replaced is. Follow for more games you didn’t know you needed.
