If you like the sound of samurai with a side of steampunk, I’ve got something just for you. This is feudal Japan, but make it weird: shogun versus emperor, except the emperor’s got steampunk mechs, and the woods are full of actual yōkai. You’re a ronin duo protecting a kid with powers nobody can control — and every choice you make doesn’t just branch dialogue, it changes how your squad fights.
It’s a tactical RPG, but it turns the turn order into a bit of a puzzle game, so it’s definitely a unique spin on both the setting and the core gameplay.
And here’s the part that actually matters: the free demo is sitting at 82% positive across 200-plus reviews. People walked in skeptical and walked out wishlisting it.
Is it perfect? No — some frame dips, a couple UI annoyances. It’s a demo. Forgivable.
The demo’s free right now, and the full game drops later this year. Wishlist this, and then follow me for more games to keep an eye on.
